Netflix everywhere CES 2016

US-based streaming service Netflix has made its service available worldwide, announcing expanded international roll-out at the CES 2016 consumer electronics show on January 6. The one major blank spot in its coverage is China, while several other territories – North Korea, Syria and Russian-annexed Crimea – were left out due to U.S. government restrictions on American companies, Netflix said in a statement.

The global expansion of Netflix adds to the list of 60 countries where Netflix was previously available, mainly in Europe and Latin America, as well as Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. The pricing plans range from eight euro a month (one streaming device, no high-definition) to 12 euro a month (up to four devices and ultra-HD available on select shows and movies).

Netflix is available in 20 languages, but most countries added in the latest expansion will see the service available in English. “From today onwards, we will listen and we will learn, gradually adding more languages, more content and more ways for people to engage with Netflix,” the company’s co-founder and CEO Reed Hastings said.
